Area Attractions

Fort Ridgely State Park – Practically in the Mayflower’s backyard, just 2 miles south, is historic Fort Ridgely State Park. Wander through the ruins of this once thriving outpost to learn more about the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, or take advantage of the park’s 8 miles of hiking trails, 12 miles of horse trails, or 7-mile bike trail to Fairfax. Bring your rod and reel and try your hand at trout fishing in the creek! Fort Ridgely is also a popular camping destination with its 34 campsites and horse campground. Come back in the winter to check out its cross-country ski and snowmobile trails and impressive sledding hill!

Fort Ridgely Equestrian Center – Specializing in endurance riding, Fort Ridgely Equestrian Center is a horse stable that offers boarding and horse training. Check out their Facebook page for more information as they usually have horses for sale, especially Arabians suited for distance competitions and trail riding.

Fort Ridgely Horse Camp - 

Fairfax Pool – Cool off after a round of golf at the Fairfax Swimming Pool, just 4.5 miles north of the Mayflower. Call 507-426-7503 for pool hours.

Memorial Park – Home to the Fairfax Cardinals of the River Valley League, Memorial Park is one of the finest amateur baseball parks in Minnesota. Check out the Cardinals’ schedule and enjoy America’s Pastime at this beautiful baseball park located in the heart of Fairfax off Highway 19 and 2nd Street.

FairRidge Trail – This paved trail is perfect for biking, in-line skating, and walking. It runs from the restored train depot to beautiful Fort Ridgely State Park. The Mayflower Golf Club is conveniently located one mile (?) west of the trail’s mid-way point on a paved county road.


Squirrels Bar and Grill – Serving the Fairfax community for over a decade, Squirrels is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also offers catering services and a large event room.

Sleepy Eye Brewing Co. – Located right on Main Street in Sleepy Eye, this brewery is a popular spot to visit. Sample craft beers on tap and stop in often to see what’s new
!

Fairfax Dayz of Thunder (June 23-26, 2022) – Join us each June for Fairfax’s town celebration! Sign up for the beanbag, volleyball, or softball tournaments, dance the night away at the street dance, or put on your detective hat and hunt for the medallion. And don’t forget to watch the parade!
